MLB: Final Home Run Derby Participant Announced — Power Battle Kicks Off Monday

NEW YORK — Fresh off his American League All-Star nod, Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. is stepping up big time — officially named the final slugger for the 2025 Home Run Derby at Truist Park in Atlanta this Monday.
Chisholm, who’s been dreaming about this moment since early in the season, even told his stepdad, Geron Sands, to get ready to throw during the Derby, a role Sands has prepared for since Jazz was a kid. “I used to hit bombs as a kid, bro,” Chisholm said, and now he’s ready to prove it on the biggest stage.

He’s the first Yankee in the Derby since 2017 when Aaron Judge, the eventual champ, and Gary Sánchez competed. Since returning from injury on June 3, Chisholm’s blasted 10 homers — tied for seventh in MLB — and boasts one of the best home run per at-bat ratios behind Judge and Cal Raleigh.
Despite recent shoulder issues, Chisholm is gearing up for his shot to join Yankee greats like Judge, Tino Martinez, Jason Giambi, and Robinson Canó as Derby champions.
