RFK Jr. Buys $4.3M DC Home for Cheryl Hines — But She’s Staying in Hollywood

It was supposed to be a fresh start in the nation’s capital. But Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may be feeling more blindsided than blissful after dropping $4.34 million on a historic Georgetown home — a gesture reportedly meant to rekindle his strained marriage with actress Cheryl Hines.
According to insiders, Kennedy believed the 19th-century townhouse would serve as both a peace offering and a power move — cementing the couple’s image as Washington’s next “It Couple” while healing wounds left by past scandals. But sources now say Hines has “no plans” to relocate from Los Angeles and isn’t eager to step into the role of “full-time political wife.”
“Bobby felt the DC home would mend their marital bridges,” said one source, adding that the move was made at Hines’ request following Kennedy’s appointment as Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Trump administration. The decision was reportedly part of an “ultimatum” from Hines, who wanted her husband closer to avoid a repeat of past behavior.
That behavior includes a reported “sexting” scandal with journalist Olivia Nuzzi — a claim Kennedy has denied — and alleged admissions from his own “lust demon” diaries that left Hines, 59, considering divorce last fall.
At the time, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star was spotted solo in Milan without her engagement or wedding rings. Though she’s since resumed wearing the jewelry and the couple appear publicly reconciled, Hines is said to still view DC as a “deadbeat town,” and remains focused on her Hollywood career. Most recently, she executive produced and starred in the short psychological thriller Prowl, which premiered at the Sardinia Film Festival alongside her daughter, Catherine-Rose Young.
As for Kennedy’s political role, sources claim Hines remains uneasy about her husband’s position within a right-wing Trump administration, despite her outward support during public appearances.
Neither Kennedy nor Hines responded to requests for comment.
🎬 MainEvent.News | Backstage Take:
Let’s be real — this isn't just a house. It’s a $4 million symbol of high-stakes political romance gone sideways. Kennedy’s attempt to stabilize his image through domestic harmony feels more like a PR misfire than a marital win. And for Hines? She’s doubling down on her Hollywood identity, not Washington’s.
Whether this latest turn is a pause in the storm or the calm before a new one, the takeaway is clear: love, politics, and reputations rarely mix cleanly — especially in the spotlight.
