Tech: Tesla’s First Diner + Drive-In Supercharger Opens in LA — “Burgers, Big Screens & Battery Packs”

Grease meets the Jetsons. That’s how Elon Musk once described it — and now it’s real.
Tesla has officially opened its first-ever retro-futuristic diner and drive-in theater in the heart of Hollywood, delivering on a concept Musk teased back in 2018. Located at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard, the two-story entertainment hub blends classic Americana with futuristic flair — all powered by Tesla innovation and 32 ultra-fast V4 Supercharger stalls.
🎬 What’s Inside: Food, Films, and Fast Charging
This isn’t just a pit stop — it’s a full-on experience.
The venue boasts:
- Two massive 45-foot LED movie screens facing the parking lot
- A rooftop bar and seating area with views of Hollywood
- “Sonic-style” carhop service — food delivered straight to your car window
- In-car movie audio sync via Tesla center touchscreens
- A kitchen helmed by celebrity chef Eric Greenspan
While anyone can grab a burger or shake, Tesla drivers get the full experience — from touchscreen ordering to immersive movie audio piped into the car. This pairing of convenience and entertainment was designed for the ~30 minutes it typically takes to fully Supercharge a Tesla.
The building spans a 3,800 sq. ft. lower level (kitchen/bar/dining area) and a 5,500 sq. ft. outdoor/rooftop space — with plans for theater-style seating also in the works.
I just had dinner at the retro-futuristic @Tesla diner and Supercharger.

Team did great work making it one of the coolest spots in LA! https://t.co/wRuyeh9x00
🛞 The Backstory: From Tweet to Reality
Elon Musk first floated the idea of a diner-meets-drive-in in 2018 — complete with retro roller skates and rock ’n’ roll. Construction finally broke ground in late 2023, and on July 21, 2025, the dream opened its doors at exactly 4:20 p.m. (Yes, really.)
Musk praised the final product on X, calling it “one of the coolest spots in LA” and promising that, if successful, more Tesla diners will roll out globally — including at long-distance Supercharger sites.
If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, @Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world, as well as at Supercharger sites on long distance routes.

An island of good food, good vibes & entertainment, all while Supercharging! https://t.co/zmbv6GfqKf
📅 What We Still Don’t Know
- Official operating hours for the diner, rooftop, and theater
- How often new short films will rotate
- Whether non-Tesla EV drivers will get limited access to future features
🎙️ MainEvent.News | Backstage Take
Tesla’s new Hollywood diner isn’t just another charging station — it’s a branding masterstroke. It taps into nostalgia, innovation, and lifestyle all at once. Burgers under the stars while your EV charges? That’s a flex. This concept could be the start of Tesla transforming EV stops from quick utility into destination experiences. If it expands, this could change the road trip game forever.
