Trump Health Scare? White House Says It’s Just Aspirin and Handshakes

Speculation surrounding former President Donald Trump’s health erupted across social media this week after photos showed his legs appearing swollen and bruising on the back of his hands. But the White House wasted no time addressing the chatter head-on.
In a press briefing Thursday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt directly responded to what she called “media speculation,” reading a statement from the president’s physician that Trump’s conditions are common, benign, and nothing to be alarmed about.
“In recent weeks, President Trump noted mild swelling in his lower legs,” Leavitt explained. “Out of an abundance of caution, this concern was thoroughly evaluated by the White House Medical Unit.”
🩺 Important Note:
While Trump’s April health report showed excellent condition, that update is not current as of July 2025. Health can shift rapidly—especially in individuals over 70—so it’s always wise to view any single report as a snapshot in time, not a long-term guarantee.
🔬 Vital Stats from the April Health Report:
- Height: 75 inches
- Weight: 224 pounds
- Resting Heart Rate: 62 bpm
- Blood Pressure: 128/74 mmHg
- Oxygen Saturation: 99%
- Body Temperature: 98.6°F
According to the memo, the swelling is a benign condition typical in individuals over 70, and the hand bruising is attributed to frequent handshaking and his daily aspirin regimen—used for cardiovascular health.
“Recent photos of the president have shown minor bruising on the back of his hand,” Leavitt added. “This is consistent with soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and aspirin use. It is a well-known and harmless side effect.”
The latest buzz started after Trump was photographed at the FIFA Club World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium alongside First Lady Melania Trump. Days later, more speculation spread when bruising was seen on his hands during a meeting with Bahrain’s Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
But Trump, 79, remains unfazed. In fact, he reportedly asked Leavitt to share his physician’s note with the public as part of his commitment to transparency.
⚠️ MainEvent.News | Editor’s Take
Let’s face it—every photo, sneeze, or stumble from a public figure is now met with viral speculation. While concern over leaders' health is valid, it’s clear that much of the drama here was driven more by headlines than hard facts. Transparency from the Trump team—and a clean bill of health—should quiet the noise, at least for now. That said, no health report, especially one from months ago, should be treated as evergreen. Health evolves, sometimes quickly—and especially in elderly individuals, sudden changes are not uncommon.
