White Claw Murder Case Update: Oklahoma Mom Faces Judge as Disturbing New Details Emerge

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — A young mother is facing a second-degree murder charge after her infant son was found lifeless at her feet — the tragic end to a night of heavy drinking, poor decisions, and preventable consequences.
33-year-old Brennan Spencer has been charged in the death of her 3-month-old son, Rory Kelson, whom police say died of asphyxia in an “unsafe sleep environment” after a night of heavy alcohol consumption.
According to court documents, Spencer and the child’s father, James Kelson, consumed an entire 12-pack of White Claw Hard Seltzers together before she allegedly left their home around midnight to purchase four additional 19-ounce “tall boys.” Security footage confirms Spencer left a convenience store at approximately 1:30 a.m.
By morning, tragedy had struck. At 6:45 a.m., Kelson woke up and noticed the twins were no longer in their bedroom bassinets. He found Spencer passed out on the couch — their daughter Lorelei in her arms, and baby Rory unresponsive at her feet.
Paramedics who responded to the scene said Rory was still warm to the touch but had blood on his face. He was rushed to OU Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy later confirmed Rory died of asphyxia, likely becoming wedged between the cushions of the couch while his mother was passed out. Authorities say Spencer’s intoxicated state impaired her awareness, directly contributing to the unsafe environment that caused the child’s death.
“I mean, I was drunk enough to just need to pass out,” Spencer reportedly admitted to police.
Records show that three of the four “tall boys” Spencer purchased were later found in the trash. The child’s father told authorities they had put the twins in bassinets around 1 a.m., but the mother’s midnight beer run and timeline contradicted that account.
Spencer is currently being held at Cleveland County Jail on $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on August 5.
Baby Rory's obituary reads: “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” He is survived by his twin sister Lorelei and both parents.
🔊 Final Take:
This heartbreaking case isn't just about alcohol or poor judgment — it's about the deadly consequences of irresponsibility in parenting. A child was lost not to illness or accident, but to choices fueled by drunkenness and neglect. While the nation debates parenting rights and state oversight, Rory Kelson’s story is a sobering reminder that children need protection from danger — even when it comes from inside the home. Justice must be served, and lessons must be learned.
