Battlefield 6 Open Beta — Week 2 Playlist Schedule, Custom Search Explained & How to Jump In

The Battlefield 6 Open Beta is back for Weekend 2, bringing another round of chaos, explosions, and a key quality-of-life upgrade: Custom Search. It’s not a full server browser (yet), but it gives you far more control over what you play and when. The second weekend will kick off at 1 a.m. PT on Thursday, Aug. 14 and run through Aug. 16, ending in the early hours of Sunday, Aug. 17, with the possibility of running later through out Sunday afternoon—we will report any updates to the schedule if necessary.
What’s New This Weekend
- Custom Search: Filter by specific maps and modes (think Conquest on Siege of Ciaro) and matchmaking will aim to drop you straight into that experience if a slot’s open.
- Freedom to Explore: Custom Search is available across Open Weapon playlists during the Weekend 2 window, so dialing in your favorite loop is easier than ever.
- Server Browser? Not during the beta. But DICE has clearly heard the community—Custom Search is a step in that direction.
How to Play (Quick Start)
- Install/Update the Beta Client on your platform of choice.
- Hop into Multiplayer → Open Weapon playlists.
- Use Custom Search to pick the exact mode/map you want, then queue up.
- Squad Up with friends for smarter spawns and objective play.
- Try Closed Weapons rotations if you want tighter, more tactical gunfights.

Pro Tips for a Better Weekend
- Filter Smart: If your pick is full, broaden your Custom Search (add one more mode or map) to get in faster.
- Play the Objective: PTFO for squad spawn control and momentum—especially in Breakthrough and Rush.
- Experiment: Hop between Close Quarters for rapid reps and All-Out Warfare for classic Battlefield sandbox mayhem.
MainEvent.News | Backstage Take
Custom Search is the right compromise for a beta. It trims the frustration of pure random matchmaking without the overhead of a full browser. If engagement spikes on curated picks (like a specific Conquest map), don’t be surprised if DICE leans even harder into player-driven discovery post-launch. The community still wants a true server browser—this feels like EA testing demand in real time.
