First Look at Bond: PlayStation to Showcase 30-Minute Deep Dive of 007: First Light

PlayStation has officially confirmed that fans will soon get their first extended look at 007: First Light, the upcoming James Bond origin story from Hitman developer IO Interactive. The deep dive will premiere during a State of Play livestream on September 3, and it promises to deliver half an hour of gameplay that blends espionage, stealth, and high-speed action.

🔑 Quick Info:

📅 Date: September 3, 2025
Showcase Length: 30 minutes
📺 Where to Watch: PlayStation’s official YouTube (State of Play)

IO Interactive, known for its mastery of stealth mechanics in the Hitman franchise, is aiming to reimagine a young James Bond — resourceful, reckless, and still finding his way into the world of espionage. The game introduces more than just stealth takedowns, however. Driving mechanics, gadgets, and improvisational tools will allow players to approach missions in classic Bond fashion — smart, stylish, and always dangerous.

The developers have emphasized that this won’t just be a “run-and-gun” experience. Players will be given multiple tools to outwit enemies and embody Bond’s sharp instincts. Combined with IOI’s trademark sandbox mission design, First Light is shaping up to feel like the most authentic James Bond video game ever attempted.

The State of Play livestream will be broadcast live on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel, with the full 30-minute demo highlighting new environments, mechanics, and story beats.

🗣️ MainEvent.News | Backstage Take

Bond video games carry history — from GoldenEye 007 to EA’s Bond era and Activision’s Blood Stone — but few have truly captured the spy fantasy. IO Interactive has the pedigree and patience to change that. If Hitman taught us anything, it’s that freedom of choice makes the player feel like the world’s most dangerous agent. Add cars, gadgets, and Bond’s swagger? This could be gaming’s definitive spy thriller.
