Fortnite Delays Custom Weapons in UEFN — Again

Fortnite fans are once again being told to wait. One of the most requested features for UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) — the ability to design and import custom weapons — has been delayed for a third time, now pushed back to early 2026.

A Long Wait for Creative Mode Players

Since its debut in 2018, Fortnite Creative has become one of the game’s most beloved modes, letting players design their own maps, minigames, and full experiences inside Epic’s ecosystem. The 2023 launch of UEFN took that freedom to another level, allowing PC creators to import their own models, assets, and even scripted gameplay.

Custom weapons were supposed to be the next big step. Initially planned for late 2024, then pushed to 2025, and now delayed again, the feature has turned into a moving target for Epic Games. According to trusted leaker HYPEX, the setback also affects other Creative features: custom items and the new physics engine have been bumped to late 2025.

Epic has yet to release an official statement on why these delays keep happening.

Disappointment Despite New Content

The news comes during what should be an exciting time for Fortnite. Chapter 6 Season 4 recently launched with new weapons like the Precision Air Strike and the Hammerhead Choppa, plus fresh vehicles and crossover skins — including a high-profile tie-in with One Punch Man.

Still, for Creative mode players who’ve been waiting nearly two years for custom weapon tools, the delays sting. Some in the community have even questioned whether the feature will ever fully materialize.

🎙 MainEvent.News | Backstage Take

Creative mode has always been Fortnite’s “secret weapon” — the sandbox that keeps players coming back even when the main battle royale starts to feel repetitive. UEFN took that potential to a new level, but delays like this risk frustrating the very creators who drive its growth.

Epic is clearly investing heavily in Fortnite’s core seasons and crossovers, but the Creative community is the backbone of long-term engagement. If custom weapons continue to slip further into the future, Epic may need to offer more transparency to keep fans from losing faith.
