MLB: Aaron Judge Passes Lou Gehrig in Yankees History With Record-Breaking Power Surge

Another day, another milestone for Aaron Judge.

The New York Yankees' superstar slugger crushed two more home runs in Sunday’s dominant win over the Oakland Athletics, bringing his season total to 30 and etching his name even deeper into the franchise record books.

According to MLB.com, Judge has now recorded 44 multi-homer games, officially passing Lou Gehrig for the most in Yankees history. Only Mickey Mantle (46) and Babe Ruth (68) now sit ahead of him in that exclusive category.

Historic Pace Before the Break

Judge continues to deliver one of the most impressive first halves in recent memory. His 30+ home runs before the All-Star break mark the fourth time he's accomplished the feat — a distinction shared only with Mark McGwire in MLB history.

He’s also riding a streak of five consecutive seasons with 30+ home runs, the third-longest in Yankees history since 1950. Only Mantle (eight straight seasons) and Alex Rodriguez (seven) have longer streaks.

Judge now joins Ken Griffey Jr. and David Ortiz as just the third player ever with multiple seasons of 50+ extra-base hits before July.

MVP Season in Motion?

Already named an American League All-Star starter, Judge entered Sunday’s game slashing an eye-popping .354/.456/.705 with 28 home runs and 63 RBIs, translating to an elite 222 OPS+. His value, per Baseball Reference, sits at 5.7 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) — putting him squarely in the AL MVP race once again.

If he continues at this pace, Judge could be on track to secure his third MVP award in just four seasons.

On the Road Ahead

The Yankees now head to Toronto for a four-game series with the Blue Jays, followed by a much-anticipated Subway Series against the Mets at Citi Field.
