‘Modern Family’ Star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons Publicly Embraces Her Bisexual Identity at 18

 Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, best known for her role as Lily Tucker-Pritchett on Modern Family, has come out as bisexual in honor of Pride Month. The 18-year-old actress announced the news through a playful video on Instagram, using a famous line from her sitcom character to reveal her truth. 

In a clip on her Instagram, Anderson-Emmons lip-syncs to a memorable scene with Sofia Vergara’s Gloria and Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Mitchell. She overlays her performance with candid on-screen text:  “people keep joking so much abt me being gay when I literally am (I’m bi)” 

 The video, shared on June 16, also included enthusiastic hashtags celebrating Pride: #modernfamily #lily #pridemonth #bi #pride.  Fans flooded the comments with praise and nostalgia, especially highlighting how proud Mitchell and Cameron—iconic for being one of TV’s most beloved gay couples—would be of her courage.

Anderson-Emmons joined the Modern Family cast in 2011 at age four and remained through its November 2020 finale. Now 18, she’s forging a new path in indie-pop music under the stage name Frances Anderson.
