New Friday The 13th Game: Jason’s Next Game Slashes Forward — But Will it Include Multiplayer?

A New ‘Friday the 13th’ Game Is in Development, But It’s Breaking From the Past
Jason Voorhees is making his return to gaming—but don’t expect another round of online multiplayer mayhem just yet.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Horror Inc. vice president Robbie Barsamian confirmed that a new Friday the 13th video game is officially in development. While details remain tightly under wraps, Barsamian made it clear this won’t be a sequel to the beloved 2017 asymmetrical multiplayer title.
“A new sequel movie and a new sequel game are at the top of our list right now,” Barsamian revealed during the Jason Universe panel. “They’re both in the works—and they’re both coming.”
The update is part of Horror Inc.’s broader “Jason Universe” campaign, which includes the upcoming Sweet Revenge short film, Crystal Lake prequel series and new merchandise pushes timed to the franchise’s 45th anniversary.
Although the developer and game style remain unknown, fans are already speculating that this new chapter could lean more toward a single-player horror experience—possibly inspired by the success of Hellraiser: Revival and the growing demand for narrative-driven frightfests.
Composer Harry Manfredini, who scored the original franchise and also worked on the 2017 game, has teased possible involvement again—raising hopes that this new title will honor the legacy of Jason while slashing open new territory.
🎮 MainEvent.News | Backstage Take:
The last Friday the 13th game bled out due to licensing issues, but the cult following it left behind proved fans are still hungry for more Voorhees. If Horror Inc. dares to lean into a terrifying, narrative-driven solo campaign—rather than just another asymmetrical cash-in—they could resurrect Jason in a way that redefines horror gaming for a new generation. But definitely include multiplayer, please.
