Soundside 2025 Shut Down: Event Featuring The Killers, and Weezer, Canceled Without Warning or Reason

Another major festival bites the dust.
The 2025 Soundside Music Festival — which was set to bring a stacked lineup including The Killers, Hozier, Weezer, and Vampire Weekend to Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut — has been abruptly canceled, with organizers citing only “circumstances beyond our control.”
Slated for September 27–28, the two-day celebration was expected to draw tens of thousands of fans to the shoreline. Now, ticketholders are being promised automatic refunds within 30 days — but no further explanation has been offered.
In a joint statement, organizers said:
“We are deeply grateful to the City of Bridgeport, Mayor Ganim, our local partners, and all the fans for their support… While we’re disappointed to have canceled this year’s show, we remain proud of the incredible musical moments we shared together in Seaside Park.”
Adding to the mystery, Soundside’s official social media pages have vanished, and there’s been no clarification on whether the festival will return in 2026.
Beyond the headliners, the festival also promised performances from Djo, Japanese Breakfast, The Backseat Lovers, Remi Wolf, The Last Dinner Party, and more — making this cancellation a major blow for both artists and fans.
Soundside began in 2022 as Sound on Sound before rebranding last year. But this isn’t the first time the fest has faced turbulence: in 2024, Foo Fighters dropped out just 48 hours before showtime, amid frontman Dave Grohl’s headline-making personal scandal. That year’s lineup scrambled to recover with Jack White and Greta Van Fleet stepping in.
🎸 This Isn’t the First Time Soundside Faced the 'Music'
Soundside Music Festival has had its fair share of behind-the-scenes turbulence. In 2024, just 48 hours before showtime, Foo Fighters abruptly pulled out of their headlining slot. While the band cited vague personal reasons at the time, it came on the heels of Dave Grohl’s public family scandal, which dominated headlines after he revealed he had fathered a child outside his marriage. The festival scrambled to fill the gap, ultimately replacing Foo Fighters with Jack White and Greta Van Fleet, but the disruption left a lasting stain on the event’s reputation.
🎟️ MainEvent.News | Backstage Take:
Something’s clearly off behind the scenes. Whether it’s financial strain, low ticket sales, or internal disputes — fans are left in the dark. It’s a harsh hit for Connecticut’s music scene, and the silence around the cancellation only amplifies the suspicion. Rebranding may not be enough next time — Soundside will need to rebuild trust if they ever want a true encore.
We will continue watching this story closely and report updates as they come.
