Battlefield 6 Beta Guide — Game Modes, Open Beta Dates, and What to Expect

The Battlefield 6 hype train is rolling at full speed, and players are finally getting their hands on the multiplayer beta. Right now, there are four playable modes in the beta — but the full launch this October will deliver a total of eight.
The beta not only gives us a taste of classic large-scale battles, but also showcases smaller, high-intensity skirmishes. And this year, DICE is mixing it up with closed weapon and open weapon variants for select modes, plus “101” training versions designed to ease newcomers into the chaos.
If you’ve been waiting to squad up, today is the last day of Early Access, with the free Open Beta running August 9–10 for all players. You can check out our full access guide here.
Battlefield 6 Game Modes – Beta & Full Release
Playable Now in Beta:
- Conquest – Large Scale
The signature Battlefield mode. Two massive teams battle for multiple capture points spread across the map. Hold objectives and eliminate enemies to drain the opposing team’s tickets. Expect heavy vehicle combat, including jets and helicopters. - Breakthrough – Large Scale
One team defends a series of capture points while the other pushes forward from a single spawn, moving the frontline deeper into enemy territory. Perfect for snipers and coordinated assaults. - King of the Hill – Small Scale
A single objective appears on the map. Teams fight for control until the point relocates, forcing constant movement and close-quarters fights. - Domination – Small Scale
Fast-paced battles over multiple capture points in a tight combat zone. Infantry-focused with minimal downtime between firefights.
Coming in Open Beta Weekend 2 (August 9–10):
- Rush – Large Scale
Attackers plant explosives on enemy M-Com stations while defenders hold the line. Victory comes when all M-Coms are destroyed or attackers run out of respawns. - Squad Deathmatch – Small Scale
Four squads of four players each go head-to-head. The first squad to hit the kill target claims bragging rights.
Not Playable in Beta (Full Launch Only):
- Team Deathmatch – Small Scale
Classic all-guns, all-skills mode where two small teams race to reach the kill target. - Escalation – Small Scale
A brand-new mode for the series. Teams battle to control points, with zones disappearing over time, funneling the fight into larger, more chaotic endgame clashes.
Game Play Style Types in Battlefield 6
- All-Out Warfare – The massive, 64-player experiences that Battlefield is famous for, using the full scope of each map.
- Close Quarters Combat – Smaller modes focused on tighter arenas, quicker matches, and pure infantry or small-vehicle action.
🗣️ MainEvent.News | Backstage Take
Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be a love letter to both old-school fans and new players. The mix of large-scale warfare and high-octane small modes means there’s something for every play style. The real test will be how DICE handles balancing across these modes — especially with weapon restrictions and map rotation in play. If the beta feedback leads to smart adjustments, BF6 could hit the ground running in October and avoid the rocky launches we’ve seen from past entries.
