Eric Trump Teases 2028 Presidential Bid — Is Another Trump Headed for the White House?

Eric Trump Hints at Future White House Run, Says Family "Didn’t Profit from Politics"

Eric Trump, son of former President Donald Trump, has signaled that another Trump could pursue the presidency in the 2028 election.

In a recent interview with the Financial Times, Eric was asked whether a member of the Trump family might run. “Who knows?” he replied, adding that “there’s more people than just me” in the family who could be potential candidates.

Since 2017, Eric and his brother Donald Trump Jr. have helmed the Trump Organization following their father's transfer of control during his presidency to avoid conflicts of interest. Eric currently oversees Trump Hotels, the family’s global luxury hospitality business.

Donald Trump Jr. also hinted at political aspirations, saying he is “wholly unimpressed by half the politicians I see,” and believes he could “do politics very effectively.”

Both brothers pushed back against the narrative that their family has profited from political power. Eric cited years of legal scrutiny over alleged ties to Russia and election interference as evidence that they’ve spent more time defending themselves than benefiting from public office.

Donald Trump Jr. played a key role in fundraising during his father’s 2016 campaign and was a vocal critic of the 2020 election results, often posting claims of voter fraud on social media. Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump served as Director of the Office of Economic Initiatives during her father’s presidency, and Lara Trump, Eric’s wife, currently co-chairs the Republican National Committee.

In May, Trump Jr. also left the door open for his own possible White House bid.
